District Administration Organises Reproductive Child Health Camp at PHC Swaraj Dweep as Part of Ayushman Bhavah Campaign

The District Administration, in collaboration with the District Health Society, South Andaman, orchestrated a significant Reproductive Child Health (RCH) Camp on 28th September 2023, at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Swaraj Dweep. This initiative is a part of the ongoing Ayushman Bhavah campaign that commenced on September 17, 2023, at the Health Centre and Village levels and will culminate with Gram/Ward Sabha events at the village level on October 2, 2023.

Ms. Veditha Reddy, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, encouraged the public to take advantage of the services offered during the Ayushman Bhavah campaign. She also called for active participation in a massive cleanliness drive scheduled for October 1, 2023, at 10 am, under the banner of Swachhata Pakhwada – Swachhata Hi Seva 2023. This nationwide initiative aims to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary on October 2, 2023. Citizens can register for the drive at https://swachhatahiseva.com.

The Reproductive Child Health (RCH) Camp was inaugurated by Ms. Debjani Sikdar, Samiti Member of Shyam Nagar Panchayat, and Mr. Dhanjay, Sarpanch of Govind Nagar Panchayat. Also present at the event were Mr. B. Nagendra, District Programme Manager, DHS (SA), and a dedicated health team comprising Dr. Pradeep Kumar Padhy, Professor & HoD of General Medicine, Dr. Chinta Jeevana Reddy, Senior Resident in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Dr. Mrinal Yadav, Junior Resident in the Department of Pediatrics. The gathering was warmly welcomed by Dr. Sabeela Banu, Medical Officer in Charge, PHC Swaraj Dweep.

In addition to the RCH Camp, all Health Centres in South Andaman District are actively conducting Health Melas at the village level. These events encompass activities such as the creation of ABHA/PM-JAY cards, screening for Hypertension and Diabetes, and the identification and treatment of TB patients.

Furthermore, the Health and Wellness Centre (HWC) in Hopetown, under the Community Health Centre (CHC), Bambooflat, will organise a blood donation camp at Gram Panchayat, Hopetown, on October 1, 2023.
