The District Administration, South Andaman, joined the nation in celebrating the 150th anniversary of the National Song ‘Vande Mataram’ on November 7, 2025, with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. To mark the occasion, a mass singing event was held in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, South Andaman, where officers and staff came together to pay tribute to the timeless composition that continues to evoke unity and national pride.
The event began with an address highlighting the historical significance of ‘Vande Mataram’, penned by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875 and later adopted as the National Song of India. The hall reverberated with the collective rendition of the song, creating an atmosphere of emotion and reverence as participants sang in unison, celebrating the enduring ideals of love, sacrifice, and devotion to the nation.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the enthusiastic participation of all officials and underscored the importance of nurturing patriotic values among the youth. He emphasized that such observances not only honour India’s cultural heritage but also strengthen the sense of belonging and unity among citizens.
The celebration reflected the Administration’s ongoing commitment to fostering national unity and cultural awareness through meaningful initiatives.
