The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs (SYA) will organise the 1st District-Level Open Athletic Meet – 2026 for Senior Citizens (Men & Women) of South Andaman District on February 4 and 5, at the Netaji Stadium Sports Complex, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The athletic meet will commence from 4 pm onwards and will be conducted free of cost, with the objective of promoting physical fitness, active ageing, and social participation among senior citizens.
A range of track and field events have been scheduled for both men and women, including 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres sprints, shot put, and a musical chair event. In addition, a 1200-metre walk has been planned for women participants, while men will compete in a 1600-metre walk.
Interested participants may register their names with Ms. Shamali, Physical Education Teacher, Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, on mobile number 9531807157, latest by 11 am on February 4. Senior citizens may also report directly at the venue before the commencement of events. Participants are required to produce a valid age proof document or Aadhaar Card at the time of registration.
Winners securing first, second and third positions in the respective events will be felicitated with medals and cash prizes.
