The District Planning Committee (DPC) meeting of Nicobar District was held on September 30 and October 1 under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar.
The meeting saw active participation from the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, along with the Chairmen of various Tribal Councils of the district. Members of the DPC reviewed presentations made by different line departments on their proposed Three-Year Action Plans (2026–27 to 2028–29).
During the sessions, departments outlined their sector-wise priorities and developmental activities, with discussions centering on inclusive growth, infrastructure enhancement, socio-economic progress, and welfare of tribal communities. Special emphasis was laid on sustainable and people-centric planning.
The Member of Parliament and Tribal Council representatives commended the District Administration’s efforts in formulating a comprehensive roadmap for the district’s future and shared suggestions for further improvement of the plans.
Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner thanked all participants for their constructive contributions and assured that the recommendations and observations made would be duly incorporated into the final Action Plan.
The successful conduct of the meeting marks a key step toward strengthening participatory planning and ensuring coordinated development in Nicobar District.
