District Planning Committee Meeting of South Andaman Underway: Focus on 3-Year and Supplementary Action Plans

The three-day meeting of the District Planning Committee (DPC), South Andaman, commenced on 07th October 2025, under the chairmanship of Mr. Prakash Adhikari, Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, in the Conference Hall of the Zilla Parishad. The meeting has been convened to deliberate upon the Three-Year Action Plan (2026–2029) and the Supplementary Action Plan (2025–2026) for the district.

At the outset, Mr. Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS, Chief Executive Officer (Ex-Officio Secretary, DPC), Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, welcomed the Chairperson, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands, Mr. Shahul Hameed, Chairperson, SVPMC, Secretaries of Planning, Finance and RD/PRIs, all Members of the DPC, and senior officers present. He outlined the objectives of the meeting and invited deliberations on the proposed action plans.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Prakash Adhikari highlighted the vision, purpose, and significance of the DPC meeting, emphasizing the need for coordinated and sustainable district development.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, A&N Islands; Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Secretary (RD/Panchayati Raj); Mr. Aman Gupta, IAS, Secretary (Planning & Finance); Mr. Shahul Hameed, Chairperson, SVPMC; Councillors of Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council; Members of Zilla Parishad; Pramukhs of all Panchayat Samitis; and senior officers from various departments.

During the proceedings, the draft Three-Year Action Plan (2026–2029) and Supplementary Action Plan (2025–2026) of key departments — including Health, APWD, Electricity, District Administration, Agriculture, RD & PRIs, Shipping, Port Management Board, and Industries — were taken up for detailed discussion. Various recommendations and suggestions were made by the Chairperson, the Hon’ble MP, and DPC members for inclusion in the departmental plans to ensure effective and timely implementation.

The first day’s session concluded at 7:30 PM with a vote of thanks.
