Divyanka-NFC Clinches Title at SP Cup Football Tournament–2025 in Mayabunder

The week-long SP Cup Football Tournament–2025, organized by the North & Middle Andaman District Police, concluded on a high note today with a thrilling finale at Netaji Stadium, Mayabunder. Open to all categories, the tournament, inaugurated on 26 September 2025 by Ms. Lata Hegde Prasad, IFS, DFO Mayabunder, showcased the finest local football talent and drew enthusiastic crowds throughout the week.

The championship match saw Bakultala-FC face off against Divyanka-NFC, kicked off by Mr. Chandan G S, DANIPS, Dy.SP/DHQ & SDPO Rangat, in the presence of Mr. Ankesh Yadav, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur. Demonstrating remarkable teamwork and skill, Divyanka-NFC emerged victorious, lifting the championship trophy amid cheers from the audience, bringing the tournament to an exhilarating close.

The grand closing ceremony, held at the Forest Club, Mayabunder, was graced by Ms. Shweta K. Sugathan, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&MA District as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries in attendance included Ms. Lata Hegde Prasad, IFS, DFO Mayabunder; Mr. Krishna Chaitanya, DANICS, Assistant Commissioner (HQ), Mayabunder; Mr. Avinash Chitagubbi, Commandant, ICG Mayabunder; and Dr. Prabhu Ram, Principal, MGG College, Mayabunder, along with senior government officials and PRI members. Their presence added prestige to the event and inspired both athletes and spectators alike.

The ceremony featured prize distribution for winners and participants, followed by a cultural programme and a Nukkad Natak on drug abuse, highlighting the tournament’s theme: ‘Nasha Mukht Bharat’. The event not only promoted sporting excellence but also encouraged community participation, showcased local talent, and reinforced the message of a drug-free lifestyle.

The North & Middle Andaman District Police reiterated their commitment to youth engagement, substance abuse awareness, and sports development.
