The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, organised a Legal Awareness Programme at Tushnabad Gram Panchayat on January 30, 2026, in collaboration with the Indian Human Rights & Crime Control Organisation (IHRCCO).
The programme aimed at sensitising the public on important legal issues, including mediation, the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act (POSH), and the rights of senior citizens.
The awareness programme was presided over by Mr. Sudhir Kumar, District Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. It was also attended by Mr. Jayanta Mukherjee, Judicial Magistrate First Class-II, Port Blair, and Mr. Anupam Sircar, Judicial Magistrate, Additional Court, Port Blair.
Mrs. Saraswati Narayan, National General Secretary and State President, IHRCCO, Ms. Preeja Menon, Advocate and Panel Counsel of DLSA, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Mr. Anand Amrit Raj, Pradhan, Tushnabad Gram Panchayat, actively participated in the programme and addressed the gathering on various legal provisions and citizen rights.
A large number of villagers from Tushnabad Gram Panchayat attended the programme and actively interacted with the resource persons. The interactive sessions helped clarify legal doubts and enhanced public awareness, making the programme informative and successful.
