In a bid to foster legal awareness and empower marginalised communities, the District Legal Services Authority of Andaman & Nicobar Islands organised a Legal Awareness Camp at the Old Age Home in Ferrargunj on August 20, 2023. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Anupam Mukherjee, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Mr. Bhawani Shanker Sharma, Ld. Additional District & Sessions Judge, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The primary focus of the legal awareness camp was to educate and enlighten participants about their rights, with a special emphasis on senior citizens, differently-abled individuals, and children, regardless of age, ability, or background. The event sought to instill in these vulnerable groups a profound understanding of their rights and privileges within society.
Mr. Anupam Mukherjee and Mr. Bhawani Shanker Sharma, both prominent figures in the legal domain, shared invaluable insights on safeguarding the rights and preserving the dignity of these often-neglected communities. Their addresses underscored the pivotal role that legal awareness plays in forging a just and egalitarian society.
The dignitaries interacted with the residents and conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the facilities and services provided. This hands-on approach served to not only enhance the understanding of the challenges faced by these individuals but also provided an opportunity to assess the quality of life within the Home.
