In a significant outreach effort, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, organized a Legal Awareness Camp at Wandoor village on May 3, 2025. The event saw enthusiastic participation from local residents, who engaged in discussions on critical legal and social issues.
Centered on the theme ‘Suicide – Prevention, Awareness & Legal Implications’, the camp aimed to shed light on the psychological, social, and legal dimensions of suicide. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sudhir Kumar, Hon’ble District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of DLSA, underscored the importance of early intervention and community support in preventing suicides. He emphasized that suicide is preventable and called on individuals to speak openly, support one another, and seek professional help when needed.
Mr. Kumar also outlined the pivotal role of Legal Services Authorities in aiding vulnerable individuals through free legal aid and mental health-related welfare schemes.
The event was attended by Mr. Subramani, Station House Officer, Humfrygunj Police Station, and Mr. Adhir Das, Gram Pradhan of Wandoor, who encouraged the community to remain informed about available support systems and legal rights.
In addition to the main theme, the session also addressed other legal issues relevant to the local populace, furthering DLSA’s mission of legal empowerment and awareness.
