DLSA Organizes Legal Services Day Programme at Beodnabad Gram Panchayat

The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, organized a special programme to mark Legal Services Day at Beodnabad Gram Panchayat on 9th November 2025. The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the singing of Vande Mataram in commemoration of its 150th year, nationally observed under the initiative launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.

The programme was graced by Mr. Sudhir Kumar, Ld. District Judge & Chairman, DLSA, and Mr. Jayanta Mukherjee, Ld. Judicial Magistrate First Class (2nd Court), Port Blair & Principal Magistrate, Juvenile Justice Board, South Andaman.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Kumar emphasized the importance of mental well-being, suicide prevention, and society’s shared responsibility in ensuring child safety and care. He elaborated on the role and functioning of the DLSA and informed participants about Free Legal Aid services, guiding eligible persons on accessing legal assistance at no cost.

Mr. Mukherjee conducted an informative session on the POCSO Act, explaining legal protections for children, and highlighted cyber crime awareness, advising participants on safe digital practices to prevent fraud and exploitation.

The programme also featured awareness sessions on Free Legal Aid Services, Protection of Children under the POCSO Act, safeguarding child rights, and cyber crime prevention.

Ms. Saraswati Narayan, National General Secretary & State President, IHRCCO, spoke on the significance of community awareness and legal empowerment. The event was further attended by Mr. Paramashivam, Pradhan, Beodnabad Gram Panchayat, and Mr. Bhoominathan, Up-Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad. During an interactive session, villagers raised questions which were addressed by the dignitaries.

Organized in collaboration with IHRCCO, the programme witnessed active participation from the local community, reinforcing awareness on legal rights, child protection, and cyber safety.
