The District Legal Services Authority of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has announced the convening of National Lok Adalat set to take place across multiple court complexes in the region. Scheduled for December 9, this initiative aims to address a spectrum of cases and pre-litigation disputes, fostering consensual settlements between involved parties.
The event is poised to unfold at various key venues including the District Court Complex at Port Blair, the Sub-Divisional Court Complex at Mayabunder, and the Circuit Court at Diglipur. It is anticipated to not only tackle compoundable cases pending across different courts but also extend its purview to disputes in their pre-litigation phase.
A wide array of cases falling under the pre-litigation disputes umbrella will be entertained during the National Lok Adalat. These encompass cases under various sections, such as NI Act cases u/s 138, money recovery cases, labour disputes, electricity and water bills cases (excluding non-compoundable), maintenance cases, civil disputes, and disputes under the Consumer Protection Act.
The primary focus of this initiative remains on fostering amicable resolutions through consensus between disputing parties. By facilitating a platform for such settlements, the authorities aim to streamline the resolution process, alleviating the burden on conventional court systems while ensuring timely and equitable justice delivery.
The National Lok Adalat not only addresses pending cases but also underscores the significance of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in expediting legal proceedings and promoting harmony in the community.
