The Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) has released the sailing schedule for its January 2026 round cruises to Barren Island, following a significant rise in demand from tourists and local residents eager to witness South Asia’s only active volcano. The cruise offers a rare opportunity to view the dramatic volcanic landscape surrounded by the stunning expanse of the Andaman Sea.
According to the schedule, the vessel Nalanda will operate two trips in January 2026. The first sailing is slated for January 9 at 2100 hrs, followed by the second on January 23 at 2100 hrs.
In a press release, DSS informed that tickets for these special cruises can be booked online through the DSS e-Ticketing Portal. The booking facility will be available 24×7 starting from December 15, 2025, at 0900 hrs. (Story Based on PR)
