In line with the directive of the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, to conduct monthly mock drills across departments for strengthening preparedness and promoting discipline, the Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) recently organized a Landslide Scenario Mock Drill at the Marine Dockyard, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The drill was carried out under the supervision of the Nodal Officer, Disaster Management, DSS, and witnessed active participation from employees of the Dockyard Canteen, Moulding Shop, Blacksmith Shop, and Marine Dispensary.
As part of the exercise, 51 employees, including one injured person, were successfully evacuated to a designated safe area, where first aid was promptly administered to the injured.
The entire exercise was conducted in a well-coordinated manner, showcasing effective response protocols and inter-agency cooperation, under the overall supervision of the Deputy Director (Shipping), DSS. (Story Based on PR)
