In a move aimed at enhancing public convenience and improving citizen-centric services, the Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS) has launched a 24×7 online facility for booking Monthly Harbour Sector Passes.

The initiative has been introduced in response to long-standing public demand and is expected to benefit daily commuters who rely on inter-island harbour sector services. The online system allows passengers to book their monthly passes anytime and from anywhere, eliminating the need to visit ticket counters.

According to DSS, the facility has been launched in line with the Government’s vision of promoting e-governance and making essential transport services more accessible and efficient.

The newly introduced online booking system will operate alongside the existing manual ticket counters, which will continue to function as usual. Commuters can choose either the online platform or the counter-based service depending on their convenience.

The application has been developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) team at Sri Vijaya Puram.

Officials stated that the initiative reflects DSS’s continued commitment to improving public services through technology-driven solutions while ensuring transparency, efficiency and commuter convenience.

The Directorate of Shipping Services reiterated its commitment to providing safe, reliable, accessible and public-centric maritime transport across the Islands.
