In view of the overwhelming response from tourists and local residents, the Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS), Andaman and Nicobar Administration, has scheduled special round cruises to Barren Island during the month of March 2026.
The exclusive sea voyage offers passengers a rare opportunity to witness Barren Island, the only active volcano in South Asia, along with panoramic views of the Andaman Sea. The cruise has emerged as a major attraction for visitors seeking a unique blend of adventure and natural spectacle.
According to the sailing schedule released by DSS, the vessel Nalanda will undertake two round cruises in March. The first voyage is scheduled to depart on March 13, 2026, at 9.00 pm, followed by a second cruise on March 27, 2026, also departing at 9.00 pm.
Tickets for the Barren Island cruise can be booked through the DSS e-ticketing portal round the clock from January 24, 2026, at 9.00 am onwards.
The Directorate has advised interested passengers to book tickets well in advance, considering the high demand for the Barren Island cruise.
