In a significant step towards enhancing digital access in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, virtually inaugurated the e-Corner at Katchal, Chowra, and Teressa Island, located in the Nancowrie group of islands. The initiative marks a major milestone in the rollout of online services across remote areas of the region.

The virtual inauguration ceremony was attended by Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Nicobars, along with other key officials, including Mr. Aditya Sangotra, Assistant Commissioner of Nancowrie, and Sub-Registrar Officers (SROs) from Teressa and Katchal. Local residents from the respective islands also joined the event.

Ms. Jyoti Kumari, in her address, highlighted the ongoing efforts of the District Administration to bring digital services to the islands. She mentioned that three e-corners have already been set up in the Sub Divisions of Nicobar District, namely Car Nicobar, Kamorta, and Campbell Bay. These initiatives are part of a broader vision to ensure that even the most remote communities have seamless access to essential online services.

The newly inaugurated e-corners in the Nancowrie Tehsil are expected to bridge the digital divide and improve governance by offering easy access to various online services. This initiative is aligned with the District Administration’s ongoing efforts to promote citizen engagement, transparency, and accountability within local governance.

With this development, the administration aims to empower local residents of the Nancowrie group of islands, bringing governance and services closer to their doorsteps and enhancing their overall quality of life.
