Mr. E S Rajesh, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Campbell Bay recently met Mr. Kishore Kshirsagar Lakshaman, Secretary (Shipping/APWD) and raised important issues of Great Nicobar with him. Mr. E S Rajesh informed the Secretary about the pathetic condition of the State Highway – 2 of Great Nicobar.
He explained to the Secretary that the residents of Laxmi Nagar Panchayat suffer every day because of the pathetic condition of the road. The Secretary informed Mr. E S Rajesh that estimates for the repair and widening of two stretches of SH-2 have already been sanctioned and he assured that estimates for all required work on SH-2 will be sanctioned timely.
Mr. E S Rajesh also raised the issue of the non-availability of direct ship sailing between Campbell Bay and Chennai in the last few months. Mr Rajesh explained that the direct ship sailing between Campbell Bay and Chennai is very beneficial for the patients, traders and farmers of Great Nicobar. He requested the Secretary to schedule at least one sailing in a month between Campbell Bay and Chennai.
The Secretary gave a positive response and assured that a ship sailing between Campbell Bay and Chennai will be scheduled soon.
