e-Sewa Kendra Inaugurated at District Court Complex in Port Blair to Enhance Access to Justice

In a significant step to strengthen the justice delivery system, an e-Sewa Kendra was inaugurated at the District Court Complex, Port Blair, on 15th October 2025. The facility was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya, Judge, High Court of Calcutta and Zonal Judge, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, in the presence of senior judicial officers, Bar Association representatives, and officials from the A&N Administration and APWD.

During his inaugural address, Justice Bhattacharyya highlighted the importance of such a facility in line with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. He urged litigants, advocates, and the public to fully utilize the services offered by the e-Sewa Kendra and suggested certain modifications to enhance its functionality, which were appreciated by attendees.

Mr. Sudhir Kumar, District and Sessions Judge of the A&N Islands, explained how the e-Sewa Kendra would make justice more accessible, especially for those with limited digital literacy or access to technology. The center offers a one-stop solution for various court-related services, including case information inquiries, e-filing, digital document submission, online payments, mobile app assistance, and E-Mulakat services.

The President of the Port Blair Bar Association also highlighted the services available at the e-Sewa Kendra and encouraged lawyers and the public to make maximum use of the facility.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Samrat Roy, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Port Blair.
