The Election Commission of India, headquartered in New Delhi, has officially released the schedule for the Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls with respect to the qualifying date of January 1, 2024. This announcement comes as a crucial step in the lead-up to the upcoming elections.
Here are the key dates and details of the revision schedule:
Publication of Integrated Draft Electoral Roll: The integrated draft electoral roll will be published on October 27, 2023 (Friday).
Period for Filing Claims & Objections: Citizens are invited to file their claims and objections from October 27, 2023 (Friday) to December 9, 2023 (Saturday).
Special Campaign Dates: Special campaigns to facilitate the revision process will be held on November 25, 2023 (Saturday), November 26, 2023 (Sunday), December 2, 2023 (Saturday), and December 3, 2023 (Sunday).
Disposal of Claims and Objections: All claims and objections are expected to be addressed and disposed of by December 26, 2023 (Tuesday).
Checking of Health Parameters and Obtaining Commission’s Permission for Final Publication & Updating Database: All health parameters will be reviewed and the Commission’s permission for final publication, as well as database updating and supplement printing, is set to be completed on January 1, 2024 (Monday).
Final Publication of Electoral Roll: The final electoral roll will be officially published on January 5, 2024 (Friday).
The Election Commission has emphasised the importance of adhering to the given schedule. In case any individual wishes to claim the inclusion of their name in the electoral roll or has objections regarding the inclusion of any name or particulars in any entry, they are urged to submit their claims or objections no later than December 9, 2023.
Claims and objections can be lodged using various methods, including in-person submission to the concerned Designated Officers/Booth Level Officers at designated polling stations. Alternatively, submissions can be made through post to the Electoral Registration Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency, or the relevant Assistant Electoral Registration Officer. The use of the “Voter Helpline App” and websites such as https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/, https://voters.eci.gov.in/, and https://www.ceoandaman.nic.in/election/index.php is also encouraged. Additionally, individuals can call the Toll-Free Number 1950 to seek assistance.
This revision process plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and inclusivity of the electoral rolls, facilitating a fair and transparent electoral process for the citizens of India.
