The designated PMLA Court has scheduled November 25, 2025, for a combined hearing of bail petitions concerning former Member of Parliament Kuldeep Rai Sharma, businessman Sanjay Lall, ANSCB Loan Manager K. Kalaivanan, and ANSCB Managing Director K. Murugan in the ongoing Enforcement Directorate case linked to alleged money-laundering activities.

Sharma, Lall and Kalaivanan were produced from judicial custody. However, Murugan could not be produced due to ongoing treatment at GB Pant Hospital. The Jail authorities filed a petition informing the Court of his medical status. The Court accepted Murugan’s authorization letter, allowing his counsel to receive his set of prosecution documents.

During the proceedings, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed requisites of pre-cognizance notice and handed over the prosecution complaint, and supporting documents to the accused in a pen drive. Copies were supplied to Murugan’s counsel as well. The Court then ordered that all four accused will remain in judicial custody until the next date of hearing.

The case traces back to an investigation initiated by the ED’s Kolkata Zonal Office under ECIR No. KLZO-II/11/2025, registered on July 21, 2025, arising from PS Crime & Economic Offences FIR No. 14/2025. The allegations concern suspected criminal conspiracy and large-scale financial misconduct involving the Andaman and Nicobar State Co-operative Bank.

Hearings on October 31, November 14, and November 19 dealt with ED’s request for custody of Murugan and the formal initiation of prosecution. The ED has named 39 accused, including multiple firms, in its prosecution complaint under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.

With the prosecution now formally underway, the Court’s decision on November 25 will determine whether the four primary accused will be granted bail or continue in custody as the case proceeds.
