Education Directorate Organises Mega Awareness Programme on Tobacco, Drug Abuse, POCSO, and Sexual Abuse

In a major initiative to promote child safety and foster a healthier learning environment, the Science Wing of the Directorate of Education, A&N Administration, in collaboration with the A&N Police, Directorate of Health Services, Department of Social Welfare, and local NGOs, organized a large-scale education and awareness programme across all Education Zones on 22nd September 2025.

The programme focused on sensitizing students about the harmful effects of tobacco and drug abuse, the provisions of the POCSO Act, and issues related to sexual abuse. A total of 7,234 students actively participated, engaging with awareness videos, PowerPoint presentations, and interactive discussions.

The sessions not only highlighted the dangers of substance abuse but also equipped students with practical knowledge on how to protect themselves and seek help in vulnerable situations.

The Director of Education, A&N Islands, announced that such awareness programmes will now be conducted every Saturday in different schools, ensuring sustained outreach and engagement with young learners.
