In a significant development, the Education Department has announced the re-engagement of part-time Pre-Primary Teachers, Pre-Primary Ayahs, Craft Instructors, and other temporary staff for the academic session 2024-25. This decision follows the approval from the Ministry of Education, allowing the continuation of Temporary Plan and Non-Plan Posts within the department.
The move comes after a period of uncertainty for part-time employees, as their services were not extended when schools reopened on July 1, 2024, pending approval from the Government of India. This led to concerns about employment continuity for the affected staff members.
The Education Department Part-time Employees Union (CITU), which has been actively advocating for the re-engagement of these employees, expressed their satisfaction with the decision. The union has been in constant communication with the Education Department and the Andaman and Nicobar Administration over the past two months, seeking a resolution to the matter.
The re-engagement of these part-time employees ensures the smooth functioning of pre-primary education and craft instruction across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, bringing relief to both the employees and the education system.
As the academic session progresses, these employees will continue to contribute to the development of education in the region, helping to meet the needs of students and schools alike.
