To commemorate World Environment Day, the Education Department of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration is set to organize a Reading Competition for children across the Islands. The event will take place today, June 5, at 10 AM at the State Library, Middle Point, Sri Vijaya Puram.
The competition will be held across three categories: Primary Level (Classes III to V), Middle Level (Classes VI to VIII), and Secondary Level (Classes IX to XII).
Organized as part of the World Environment Day celebrations, the initiative aims to instill a love for reading among students while simultaneously raising environmental awareness. By engaging with literature on environmental issues, participants are expected to develop critical thinking, gain insights into sustainability, and adopt positive behavioural changes.
Students interested in participating can register directly at the State Library on the day of the event.
