In a bid to enhance transparency and accountability during elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced the cVIGIL mobile application, offering citizens a powerful platform to report violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). Lauded for its simplicity and effectiveness, the app is revolutionizing the way citizens engage in the electoral process.

Available for download on both Android and iOS devices, the cVIGIL app streamlines the process of reporting MCC violations. Users can easily document incidents by selecting the type of violation, providing crucial details such as location, time, and even submitting photographs or videos as evidence. The app utilizes GPS technology to accurately pinpoint the location of the reported violation, ensuring swift action from authorities.

One of the standout features of the cVIGIL app is its commitment to user secrecy. Offering the option to report violations anonymously, the app encourages widespread participation without fear of repercussions. This anonymity safeguards individuals who wish to report irregularities without compromising their safety or privacy.

Since its inception, the cVIGIL app has garnered praise for its role in increasing the number of MCC violations reported during elections. By empowering citizens to actively participate in upholding electoral integrity, the app has become an invaluable tool for promoting fairness and accountability in the electoral process.

Mr. B S Jaglan, IAS, the Chief Electoral Officer of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has emphasized the importance of utilizing the cVIGIL app during elections. Encouraging all citizens to take an active role in ensuring compliance with the Model Code of Conduct, Mr. Jaglan underscores the app’s significance in fostering a culture of responsible citizenship.

With its user-friendly interface and robust features, the cVIGIL app stands as a testament to the Election Commission’s commitment to democratic principles. As citizens across the nation gear up for upcoming elections, the app serves as a beacon of transparency, empowering individuals to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
