The Election Department is set to facilitate voter registration during the upcoming ‘Island Tourism Festival’ scheduled to run from December 27th to 31st, 2023, at the ITF Ground Campus, VIP Road, Port Blair. This initiative aims to encourage new voter enrolment, particularly focusing on individuals aged between 18 to 21 years.
Prospective voters attending the festival will have the opportunity to enrol their names in the Photo Electoral Rolls by submitting either Form 6 or Form 8 along with a passport-sized photograph, proof of birth, and a residence certificate. Additionally, an e-Photo Identity Card will be issued on-site during the festival.
Stall No. 34 (B) has been designated for voter registration purposes at the Island Tourism Festival. The Election Department has extended a warm invitation to the general public, urging them to visit the specified stall and contribute to making this voter enrolment initiative a grand success.
This move aligns with the aim of encouraging greater participation in the democratic process by ensuring that eligible citizens have the opportunity to exercise their voting rights. The initiative also underscores the importance of active civic engagement, especially among the younger demographic, in shaping the nation’s democratic landscape.
