Electricity Department Hosts ‘Vidyut Jan Sunwai’ in Manglutan to Address Consumer Issues

Electricity Department organized a ‘Vidyut Jan Sunwai’ at the Panchayat Hall in Manglutan, chaired by Dr. Prashant Kumar, Director (Power) of the A&N Administration. The event aimed to reach out to consumers and provide a platform to address their power-related issues.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Kumar affirmed the commitment of the A&N Administration and the Electricity Department to provide the best services to the island’s residents. He emphasized that all possible measures are being explored to ensure uninterrupted power supply throughout the islands. Regular assessments are being conducted to identify and resolve problematic zones.

A major highlight of the event was the interactive session, where participants expressed their grievances, which were promptly addressed by Dr. Kumar and senior officials from the Electricity Department. Suggestions and demands raised by public representatives and the general public were noted, with assurances given for prompt redressal.

A demonstration of the Consumer Complaint Handling Mechanism (CCHM) was organized to sensitize consumers about the process. Consumers were encouraged to utilize the CCHM system for effective grievance redressal through the toll-free number 1800-345-1111. Additionally, the gathering was urged to take advantage of various Solar Roof Top schemes, including the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

Dr. Kumar assured the public that the A&N Administration is committed to timely grievance redressal and that proactive measures would be taken by the officers and staff of the Electricity Department to address all issues raised during the Jan Sunwai.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Prakash Adhikari, Zilla Parishad member, who applauded the efforts of the Electricity Department and the A&N Administration for conducting the first Jan Sunwai program in their Panchayat. He appreciated the work done by the Department in the local area and expressed hope that remaining issues would be addressed in the larger public interest. He also requested follow-up programs to be conducted.

The event saw the attendance of the Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineer of South Andaman, Pradhans and Samiti Members of Guptapara, Humfrygunj, and Wandoor Panchayats, PRI members, and local residents in large numbers.
