To accelerate the ongoing efforts for the installation of Rooftop Solar (RTS) plants under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana (PMSGY) and to ensure timely achievement of targets, the Electricity Department, in coordination with Revenue Officials, will be conducting awareness camps at various locations across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The initiative aims to generate public interest by effectively communicating the benefits of the scheme through structured awareness programmes. These camps will also facilitate on-the-spot registrations to increase the number of beneficiaries and provide necessary guidance on the mutation and sub-division process, with support from Revenue Officials and empanelled vendors.

The series of camps will began on 8th September 2025, with sessions at the SVPMC Conference Hall, Sri Vijaya Puram and at Subashgram Gram Panchayat under the North Andaman Division (NAD). Later at 3 pm, another camp was held at Kalighat Gram Panchayat under NAD. On 10th September 2025, camps will be organised at Rangat Gram Panchayat under the Rural Division and at Perka Community Hall under the Nicobar Division, both commencing at 10 am.

On 11th September 2025, three awareness camps will be held simultaneously—at Mayabunder Gram Panchayat (Rural Division), Lapati Community Hall (Nicobar Division), and Wandoor Gram Panchayat (South Andaman Division), all beginning at 10 am. The following day, 12th September 2025, a camp will be conducted at Shadipur Community Hall under the Head Quarter Division.

Further sessions will take place at Mannarghat Gram Panchayat under the South Andaman Division on 13th September 2025, Garacharma Community Hall under the Head Quarter Division on 16th September 2025, and Delanipur Community Hall under the Head Quarter Division on 18th September 2025, all starting at 10 am. The final camp in the series is scheduled for 23rd September 2025 at Govind Nagar Gram Panchayat under the Nicobar Division.

The Electricity Department has urged the general public to attend these awareness camps, learn about the benefits of adopting rooftop solar systems, and register under the scheme. The initiative is expected to give a major boost to renewable energy adoption across the Islands, aligning with the national mission of sustainable energy development.
