In a bid to accelerate the installation of Rooftop Solar (RTS) plants under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana (PMSGY) and ensure timely achievement of targets, the Electricity Department, in coordination with Revenue Officials, will organize a series of 15-day awareness camps across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands starting tomorrow, September 4.
The initiative aims to create greater public awareness about the scheme by highlighting its benefits, enabling on-the-spot registrations to boost the number of beneficiaries, and providing guidance on mutation and sub-division processes with the support of Revenue Officials and empaneled vendors.
The camps will be held at Gram Panchayats, community halls, and other public venues across South, North, Middle Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The schedule is as follows:
- Sept 4 – Beodonabad Gram Panchayat (HQ Division) & Sippighat Gram Panchayat (SAD Division)
- Sept 8 – SVPMC Conference Hall (NRSE Division), Subashgram Gram Panchayat & Kalighat Gram Panchayat (NAD Division)
- Sept 10 – Rangat Gram Panchayat (Rural Division) & Perka Community Hall (Nicobar Division)
- Sept 11 – Mayabunder Gram Panchayat (Rural Division), Lapati Community Hall (Nicobar Division) & Wandoor Gram Panchayat (SAD Division)
- Sept 12 – Shadipur Community Hall (HQ Division)
- Sept 13 – Mannarghat Gram Panchayat (SAD Division)
- Sept 16 – Garacharma Community Hall (HQ Division)
- Sept 18 – Delanipur Community Hall (HQ Division)
- Sept 23 – Govind Nagar Gram Panchayat (Nicobar Division)
The Department has invited the general public to actively participate in the camps, adopt the scheme, and contribute towards the nation’s renewable energy goals.
