As the Andaman and Nicobar Islands continue to experience inclement weather conditions, the Electricity Department has issued an urgent appeal to consumers for their cooperation and vigilance. In light of the adverse weather, the department is requesting residents to report any unusual observations related to the power system to ensure the safety of all islanders.
The department has specifically urged consumers to promptly inform their nearest Site Office if they observe any of the following:
1. Flashes: Unusual or sudden flashes of light in the power system.
2. Abnormal Sounds: Strange noises emanating from the electrical infrastructure.
These observations may indicate potential issues within the power system that require immediate attention. The falling and snapping of power lines during adverse weather conditions can pose significant safety risks. Therefore, citizens have been advised to keep a safe distance from any snapped power lines and report such incidents immediately to the nearest Site Offices, Police Stations, or the Fire Brigade.
For convenience and to expedite response times, the Electricity Department has provided dedicated telephone numbers for reporting these situations. The public can report such incidents to the Electricity Control Room through the following contact information:
– Toll-free Telephone Number: 18003451111
– Telephone Numbers: 03192-235250 and 03192-230323
The department emphasises that the safety and well-being of the community are of paramount importance, and their cooperation is essential during challenging weather conditions.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed, exercise caution, and play an active role in reporting any concerns to assist the Electricity Department in maintaining a reliable and safe power supply during adverse weather.
