Empowering Girls: ‘Girls on Wheels’ Initiative Flagged Off and Inaugurated by Kuldeep Rai Sharma

Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament for Andaman and Nicobar Islands, took a significant step towards women empowerment by flagging off and inaugurating the ‘Girls on Wheels’ initiative. The event took place at Mithkhari and Namunaghar areas on January 29, 2024, at 10:00 am, drawing immense enthusiasm as 55 girls enthusiastically enrolled for the initiative.

The ‘Girls on Wheels’ initiative, spearheaded by the Member of Parliament, aims to provide free two-wheeler driving lessons to girls in the Mithakhari and Namunaghar areas. The goal is to equip them with driving skills in a secure environment under proper guidance, ensuring that all interested girls can acquire this crucial skill without incurring any costs.

Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma emphasized the importance of the ‘Girls on Wheels’ initiative in fostering women empowerment. He highlighted that obtaining a two-wheeler driving license is not only a practical skill but also a gateway to various employment opportunities. Additionally, it offers girls independence in transportation, eliminating the need to depend on others.

“My aim is to ensure that every girl in Andaman and Nicobar Islands possesses a driving license, enabling them to achieve independence,” stated the Member of Parliament, underlining the broader societal impact of this initiative.

Residents from Mithkhari, Namunaghar, and neighboring areas attended the program and expressed their appreciation for Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma’s visionary ‘Girls on Wheels’ initiative.
