In an era where the internet plays a central role in our daily lives, the importance of cyber awareness has never been more critical. Cybercrimes are constantly evolving as technology advances, and cybercriminals become increasingly sophisticated. To address this growing concern and promote digital safety and cybersecurity awareness among students, the Cyber Cell of the A&N Police organised a two-day event called “Cyber Jaagrookta” at Nirmal Sr.Sec.School and Girls’ Sr.Sec.School in Port Blair. The event took place on October 3, 2023, at Nirmal Sr.Sec.School and on October 4, 2023, at Girls’ Sr.Sec.School.
During the Cyber Jaagrookta program, approximately 915 students participated and were educated on a wide range of critical topics related to online safety and cybersecurity. The sessions covered a variety of important subjects, including Social Media Safety, Fake Dating Apps, Password Security, Online Privacy, Online Gambling, Child pornography, Safe Online Shopping, email frauds, Identity Theft, Fake Loan Apps, Identifying Phishing Scams, Digital Etiquette, Cyberbullying, and enabling two-factor authentication.
The program aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the digital world securely, safeguard their personal information, and protect themselves from cyber threats. In today’s interconnected world, where students are increasingly using the internet for various purposes, such awareness is essential to ensure their safety online.
The Cyber Cell of Port Blair has provided contact information for those seeking assistance, information, or making inquiries regarding cybersecurity issues. The Cyber Jaagrookta program by the A&N Police is a commendable initiative aimed at empowering students with the tools they need to stay safe and secure in the digital age. As cyber threats continue to evolve, it is crucial that educational institutions and law enforcement agencies collaborate to raise awareness and promote cybersecurity among the younger generation.
