The Skill Development Program (SDP) Cell of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT) joined forces with the State Bank of India’s Rural Self Employment Training Institute (SBI RSETI) to conduct an Entrepreneurship Development Module aimed at enhancing the skills of Fashion & Apparel Designing Course trainees. The event took place at DBRAIT and was inaugurated by Mr. Prabhu Yadav, Director of SBI RSETI.

Mr. Yadav began the session by enlightening the trainees about the various training programs currently being conducted by RSETI. A resource person from SBI RSETI then took the stage, providing valuable insights into the bank’s schemes that could assist the trainees in launching their own entrepreneurial ventures. Throughout the module, the trainees were introduced to various aspects of entrepreneurship, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to succeed in the fashion and apparel industry.

The concluding session of the Entrepreneurship Development Module was graced by the presence of Ms. Archana Singh, General Manager of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), who served as the chief guest. Mr. Shankar Rao, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department (HoD) at DBRAIT, welcomed the gathering and shed light on the history of Skill Development Programs conducted by DBRAIT from 2005 to 2023.

One of the highlights of the event was the launch of an indigenous software named ‘CAUSHAL’ (Competency Assessment under Skill Harnessing and Learning) developed by DBRAIT’s technical team. The software is designed to capture real-time data from SDP Centers spread across the Andaman Islands, from South Andaman to North Andaman. During the launch, the software showcased a live recording of a Fashion and Apparel designing class, demonstrating its capabilities. The program also recognized the top performers among the trainees who successfully completed their courses.

In her address, the chief guest, Ms. Archana Singh, commended the DBRAIT team for achieving complete digitalization of the Skill Development Centers. She emphasized the vital role of entrepreneurship in the field of fashion designing and encouraged the trainees to leverage the opportunities provided by the government to empower themselves and become self-reliant.

The Entrepreneurship Development Module saw the participation of approximately 50 trainees from the Fashion and Apparel Designing courses offered by DBRAIT’s Skill Development Centre. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. S. Raji, a lecturer in Civil Engineering.

This initiative has not only equipped the trainees with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the fashion and apparel industry but also opened doors to entrepreneurship, fostering self-reliance and economic independence.
