Former Member of Parliament, Kuldeep Rai Sharma, has appealed to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to enhance the recreational facilities at Marina Park, aiming to make it more engaging and enjoyable for children and families.
In a letter to the Chief Secretary, Mr. Sharma highlighted the potential to further enrich Marina Park, a popular spot for residents and tourists, with additional play equipment and attractions designed for young visitors.
Marina Park, known for its tranquil ambiance and scenic beauty, has long served as a beloved gathering place for islanders and travellers, particularly on weekends and holidays. While it already features several play structures, Mr. Sharma believes there is scope to elevate the experience for children through new installations.
Among the proposed additions are a toy train, walking rolling balloons, sandboxes, swan rides, space shuttle rides, a family roller coaster, aquatic slide combinations, and a pool. Mr. Sharma emphasised that these facilities would not only bring joy to children but also align with the administration’s vision of creating inclusive, family-friendly public spaces across the islands.
“This initiative would give children more recreational options, fostering a vibrant environment where families can bond and create cherished memories,” Mr. Sharma stated in his letter. He added that such upgrades would reinforce Marina Park’s reputation as a key destination for both locals and visitors.
The former MP urged the administration to assess the feasibility of implementing these upgrades, expressing confidence that they would enhance the park’s appeal and contribute to the well-being of island families.
