As the nation awaits the outcome of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, early indicators from multiple exit polls suggest a favourable outcome for Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency.
Exit polls conducted by prominent organizations such as C Voter, Axis My India, School of Politics, and Jan Ki Baat all align in their prediction for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, indicating a potential win for the BJP.
Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, a seasoned politician and a three-time former Member of Parliament, is contesting against the incumbent MP, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, along with 10 other candidates. Mr. Sharma secured victory in the ANIPC Seat in 2019, defeating Mr. Vishal Jolly from the BJP by a narrow margin.
Earlier expressions of confidence from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during an interview with a National News Channel, further bolstered the BJP’s confidence.
The counting of votes for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 is slated to commence at 8:00 AM on 4th June 2024, at JNRM College Campus in Port Blair.
However, the reliability of exit polls in predicting election outcomes in Andaman and Nicobar Islands remains a subject of debate. The unique geographical and demographic landscape of the region, including the location of many polling stations in tribal and remote areas, poses challenges to accurate predictions.
The final verdict will only be known after the votes are tallied on June 4, 2024. Nevertheless, the BJP’s local unit exudes confidence, buoyed by the positive indications from the exit polls.
