In a significant welfare initiative, the Andaman and Nicobar Police had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of India on January 25, 2023, to extend the benefits of the Police Salary Package to all its personnel. One of the key features of this package is an ‘Accidental Insurance Cover of ₹40 lakh’ in case of an untimely demise.
In a recent and poignant example, the claim for accidental insurance following the tragic death of Late HG(R)/275 Jual Tigga—who lost his life in a road accident—has been successfully processed under this scheme. His legal heir, Ms. Sangita Barla (wife of the deceased), a resident of Shivapuram, Betapur, received the sum of ₹40.00 lakh on July 16, 2025.
This milestone reflects the police department’s strong commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families. The collaboration between the A&N Police and the State Bank of India has significantly streamlined the insurance claim process, ensuring timely financial support to beneficiaries under the Police Salary Package.
The A&N Police has extended heartfelt gratitude to the State Bank of India for its dedicated partnership in this noble initiative.
