In a significant development aimed at enhancing the welfare of its personnel and their families, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police has successfully extended the benefits of the Police Salary Package to all its staff members. This landmark initiative, which was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of India on January 25, 2023, includes ‘Accidental Insurance of Rs. 40 lakhs’ in the unfortunate event of an officer’s demise.
A poignant testament to the effectiveness of this initiative came to light recently when the family of a deceased Head Constable, who tragically lost his life in a road accident, became the inaugural beneficiary of this comprehensive package. On August 30, 2023, wife of the deceased Head Constable received a compensation sum of Rs. 40.00 lakhs under the ‘Police Salary Package.’
The extension of this package to all police personnel and their families underlines the unwavering commitment of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police to the well-being of its dedicated force and their loved ones. The collaboration between the police department and the State Bank of India has significantly streamlined the process of disbursing insurance claims, ensuring that financial assistance reaches beneficiaries in a timely manner.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police has expressed their gratitude to the State Bank of India for their partnership and dedication to this noble cause.
This move not only acknowledges the sacrifices made by the police personnel but also provides them with the security and reassurance that their families will be taken care of in case of unforeseen tragedies. It sets a strong precedent for ensuring the welfare of the brave men and women who serve and protect the Andaman and Nicobar Islands community.
