The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS), in collaboration with the Union Territory Agricultural Technology Management Agency (UT ATMA), successfully concluded a six-week Farm School on Broiler Production training programme on October 17 at Govind Nagar village, Great Nicobar Island.

Commencing on September 12, the sessions were held every Friday with the objective of enhancing farmers’ technical skills in broiler production to improve livestock productivity and strengthen rural livelihoods.

The training was hosted at the farm of Mr. Abhijit Mandal, son of Supada Mandal, a beneficiary farmer from Govind Nagar. Participants were trained in key aspects of poultry management, including feeding, housing, disease control, and market-oriented production techniques. Through hands-on demonstrations, the programme provided practical exposure to modern and sustainable poultry farming practices aimed at increasing efficiency and income generation.

The enthusiastic participation of local farmers reflected their growing interest in adopting scientific methods for broiler production. The initiative also emphasized sustainable and locally adaptable practices, empowering farmers to contribute to food security and economic resilience in Great Nicobar.
