A violent incident in Malai Bijan on October 31, 2024, left three individuals injured following an alleged assault by a local resident. According to the complaint, Hanifa, a resident of the same area, reportedly entered a family’s home uninvited around 8 p.m. and attacked a woman and her son with a pair of scissors.
The mother sustained injuries near her right eye after being attacked, while her son suffered injuries to his wrists, right cheek, left shoulder, and head as he tried to defend her. Hanifa then fled the scene but, in his escape, reportedly attacked another local resident who was passing by, with the same pair of scissors. The passerby and the mother and son sustained injuries during the ordeal. Hanifa, meanwhile, also reportedly fell on the road, injuring himself.
All three victims received treatment at GB Pant Hospital and were later discharged to recover at home. The reason behind Hanifa’s attack on the family and the passerby remains unknown.
An FIR has been lodged at Chatham Police Station under sections 333 and 118(1) of the BNS, 2023, against Hanifa.
