An FIR has been registered at Aberdeen Police Station against the manager of Hotel Nakshatra in Goalghar for failing to comply with security protocols mandated by the District Magistrate’s orders. The case has been filed under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, for neglecting crucial guest registration, check-in and security measures outlined in Order No. 2-25/2023-R/TSD/DC(SA)/4434 dated September 25, 2024.
The District Magistrate’s directives require hotels to maintain a proper check-in register, collect valid identity documents from all guests, and retain CCTV footage for at least 30 days. However, a recent inspection revealed significant lapses in compliance at Hotel Nakshatra. The manager failed to collect necessary identification documents from multiple guests during check-in, and the check-in register was found incomplete. Furthermore, the hotel did not retain CCTV footage for the stipulated duration, raising concerns about guest security and public safety.
These violations not only breach legal obligations but also pose potential risks to the safety of guests and the general public. Authorities emphasised the importance of adhering to these regulations to maintain accountability and ensure the security of the community.
The A & N Police have stated that strict action will be taken against those neglecting these guidelines. Hotel owners and managers are urged to review their operations and comply with all safety regulations.
The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities or crimes by contacting the police helpline at 112, 03192-232100, 03192-236641& 03192-232400. Informants can also reach out to local police stations, and their identities will remain confidential.
