FIR Registered Against Two at Campbell Bay for Uploading Child Pornography on WhatsApp

The Cyber Cell, CID unit in Port Blair, received a crucial Cyber Tipline report from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The report was shared through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and has initiated an investigation into a potential child pornography incident.

According to the enquiry conducted by the Cyber Cell, it was revealed that the Electronic Service Provider (ESP), specifically WhatsApp, had reported the incident to the NCMEC under the category of Child Pornography (possession, manufacture, and distribution). The incident took place on 8th May 2022 at 01:25 hrs (IST).

The Tipline information provided details that a WhatsApp user had uploaded a piece of child pornography content. Additionally, the Tipline also revealed the suspect’s username, mobile number, and IP address associated with the reported activity.

After a thorough investigation by the Cyber Cell CID in Port Blair, it was determined that the suspect details provided by the Cyber Tipline was associated with a WhatsApp account registered to a person belonging to Khudirampur, Diglipur.

Furthermore, based on the IPDR details, it was identified that the person responsible for uploading the pornographic content was connected to a broadband connection located at INS Bazz, Campbell Bay, falling under the jurisdiction of the Campbell Bay Police Station.

In light of the Cyber Tipline report, the Cyber Cell CID has recommended a comprehensive investigation into the user associated with broadband and the WhatsApp user.

Campbell Bay Police has registered an FIR and is investigating the incident.
