The first meeting of District Consumer Protection Council, South Andaman District constituted vide Notification dated 25.8.2021 was convened under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS at the Conference Hall of Office of Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman on 23.03.2022 at 11.00 am. The Members of the DCPC from various departments and Consumer and Civil Rights Protection Council were present.
The main objective of the meeting was to render advice on the promotion and protection of Consumer Rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. The Chairperson stressed that all the Stakeholders should create awareness among various sections of the societies for the protection of Consumers Rights like:
- The marketing of goods, products or services which are hazardous to life and property.
- The quantity, quality, potency, purity, standard and price of goods, products or services as the case may be, so as to protect the consumer against unfair trade practices.
- Wherever possible, access to variety of goods, products or services at competitive prices.
- To be heard and to be assured that consumer’s interests are received due consideration at appropriate forum.
- Consumer can seek redressal against unfair trade practice or restrictive trade practices or unscrupulous exploitation of consumer and right to consumer awareness.
