Tourists Boats and Tour Operators were utilising the Fish Landing Centre constructed at Shaheed Dweep earlier. The fishermen of the area were uncomfortable with the Fish Landing Centre being used by Tourist Boats and Tour Operators.
Zonal Fisheries Office, South Andaman has now warned against the use of Fish Landing Centre at Shaheed Dweep for any purpose except for fishing related activities.
Assistant Director of Fisheries, South Andaman in a circular has mentioned that the use of FLC for any purpose other than fishing will be treated as unlawful.
He also warned that the Department will initiate action against anyone trespassing in the FLC Premises, berthing of vessels other than for fishing purpose.
The circular also mentions that Fish Landing Centre, Shaheed Dweep is for the sole purpose of berthing, anchoring, repair and maintenance of fishing vessels.
