The Fisheries Training Centre, Marine Hill, under the Department of Fisheries, is set to conduct a three-day training programme on ‘Mud Crab Fattening and Shrimp Farming’ with financial assistance from the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad, under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). The training, scheduled for March 2025, aims to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge of brackish water aquaculture.
The programme will cover essential aspects such as the design and layout of shrimp and crab farms, pre-stocking and stocking management, feeding techniques, and health management. Additionally, field visits to aquaculture farms and hatcheries will be organised to provide practical exposure.
A total of 25 participants will be selected for the training, and the department will guide them in undertaking commercial activities through the PMMSY scheme. The training is open to fishers, fish farmers, self-help groups (SHGs), entrepreneurs, tribals, and unemployed youth. Selected trainees will receive a daily allowance of Rs. 300 and a travel allowance of Rs. 100 per day, along with lunch and refreshments.
Interested individuals can obtain application forms from the nearest Zonal Fisheries Office or Fisheries Sub-Stations. The completed applications must be submitted by March 21, 2025.
