Fisheries Training Centre to Host Training Programme on Fish Value Addition

The Fisheries Training Centre, Marine Hill, under the Department of Fisheries, in collaboration with the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad, is set to organise a three-day training programme on ‘Fish Value Addition’ in January 2025. The initiative is being conducted under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).

The training, scheduled for the third or fourth week of January, aims to equip participants with hands-on skills in developing fish and fishery products and by-products. The programme will include practical sessions on fish handling, cutting, primary processing, pickling, drying, and the preparation of breaded/battered products, fish sausages, and more.

A total of 25 beneficiaries will be selected for the training, and the Department of Fisheries will provide additional support to the trained groups for pursuing commercial ventures under the PMMSY scheme.

Applications are invited from interested fishers, self-help groups (SHGs), entrepreneurs, tribal individuals, and unemployed youths of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Interested individuals can collect application forms from the nearest Zonal Fisheries Offices or Fisheries Sub-Stations. Completed applications must be submitted to the respective Fisheries Offices by January 15, 2025.
