Information about a distress alert from the Distress Alert Transmitter of motorised fishing dinghy was conveyed to his owner at Campbell Bay on 23rd June 2021 at 5:00 Pm. The fishing dinghy had left Campbell Bay on 18th June 2021 to catch crabs.
Indian Coast Guard has launched a search and rescue mission after the Distress Alert was received by them. The local fishermen of Campbell Bay have also launched a search for the dinghy by themselves. Two boats of the local fishermen left Campbell Bay at 1:00 Am this morning to search for the boat which sent the distress signal.
It is also being reported that local police has also joined the search from OP Macachua and OP Afra Bay in local engine dinghy equipped with satellite phone.
The engine dinghy had 03 people onboard and they are out at the sea from 18th June 2021.
The search for the dinghy is continuing but has so far not yielded anything. It is being reported that a Coast Guard Dornier has also joined the search for the vessel along with the Coast Guard Vessel which has been searching for the dinghy since yesterday.
