In a significant crackdown on narcotics, the team from Police Station Pahargaon seized 402.35 grams of methamphetamine and arrested five individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking. The operation was carried out as part of the Andaman and Nicobar Police’s zero-tolerance policy against crime and drug-related offenses.

Based on credible intelligence received on April 15, police learned that a man identified as Suresh would be transporting illicit methamphetamine near the sand stock area en route to Attampahar via Garacharma. Acting swiftly, a special raiding team was constituted under the leadership of ASP Shruti Yaragatti S, IPS, and SHO PS Pahargaon.

The team, comprising Inspector Mohd. Elias, Sub-Inspectors P.K. Shivhare and Manish Narayan, Head Constable Ravi Kumar Limbu, and Police Constable Shiv Kumar, intercepted and apprehended S. Following his arrest and interrogation, the police uncovered the involvement of Ashim Kumar Bepari alias Guddu (35) of School Line. He was arrested shortly after, and an additional 1.95 grams of methamphetamine was seized from him.

The investigation further led police to Sagar Biswas alias Raja (26) of Billiground. From his possession, officers recovered Rs. 3.08 lakh—believed to be proceeds from drug sales—and 297 grams of methamphetamine. This part of the operation was carried out by SI Jeevan and his team, including PCs Santosh Lall and D. Shiv Kumar.

Another suspect, Mithun Kumar Mondal (29) of Duke Nagar, Swadesh Nagar, was also arrested during the extended operation.

The entire crackdown was carried out under the close supervision of Mr. Vikas Swami, IPS, SDPO (South Andaman), and the overall guidance of Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
