Five Foreign Poachers & Two Engine Dinghies Apprehended in Anti-Poaching Operation Near Loha Tikrey

In a significant breakthrough, an anti-poaching operation led to the apprehension of five additional foreign poachers near Loha Tikrey, falling under the jurisdiction of PS Kalighat. The operation, conducted by a dedicated team of law enforcement officers, has further bolstered efforts to combat illegal poaching activities in the region.

Under the supervision of Inspector Anirudra Mondal, a team comprising Sub-Inspector Dhiraj Kishan, Head Constables Khokan Ch. Das, Alaxander, Constables Rakesh Chander Rathore, Raj Kamal, and Police Constables Elazier and P.K Mohd. Zunaid was deployed to conduct the anti-poaching operation near Loha Tikrey. The team, previously successful in apprehending 11 foreign poachers, intensified their search both at sea and on land in the area.

On July 12, 2023, during their extensive search, the team observed suspicious movement of poachers in two engine dinghies near Loha Tikrey. Acting swiftly, the team signalled the poachers to stop. However, upon noticing the law enforcement officers, the poachers attempted to flee. Undeterred, the brave anti-poaching team risked their lives in pursuit and successfully apprehended five foreign poachers. Furthermore, they seized two engine dinghies loaded with a substantial quantity of sea cucumber and other survival articles.

Following their capture, all apprehended poachers were brought to PS Kalighat for further investigation. They will subsequently be handed over to PS CCS for continued scrutiny. The operation, carried out under the supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP (D) N&MA, marks a significant achievement in the ongoing battle against illegal poaching in the region.

In light of this successful operation, the authorities urge the general public and fishermen venturing out to sea to remain vigilant and report any credible information regarding the sighting of foreign boats or nationals. Informants’ identities will be kept confidential, and they will be suitably rewarded for their courageous actions.
