As the countdown to Durga Puja festivities in Great Nicobar Island begins, the Campbell Bay Police took to the streets on October 19, 2023, in a flag march aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the local community.
Durga Puja, one of the most significant festivals celebrated on the island, is scheduled to commence on October 21, 2023. In preparation for the grand celebrations, the Campbell Bay Police conducted this flag march with the primary objective of instilling a sense of security and trust among the general public.
The flag march in Campbell Bay was led by Sub-Inspector Deepak Mukherjee, the Station House Officer at PS Campbell Bay. These marches serve as a vital tool for law enforcement agencies to reassure law-abiding citizens while sending a clear message to potential troublemakers in the community.
Great Nicobar Island is bustling with preparations for the upcoming Durga Puja festivities, with two grand pandals currently under construction in the Campbell Bay area. These pandals are central to the celebration, offering a space for community gatherings, prayers, and cultural performances during the festival.
Notably, Durga Puja also features a range of cultural programs organised by the Puja Committees to entertain the local population. The Puja Pandals, aside from their spiritual significance, offer a fair-like atmosphere, complete with eateries, games, and shops selling toys and various items for the enjoyment of attendees.
With the flag march conducted by the Campbell Bay Police, the authorities are taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of all participants during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, creating an atmosphere of security and festivity for everyone in Great Nicobar Island.
