In a move aimed at promoting adventure tourism in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a new water sports activity, Fly Board, was inaugurated on Wednesday at Elephant Beach in Swaraj Dweep. The activity was formally launched by Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Director of the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism (IP&T), A&N Administration, in the presence of departmental officials and representatives of water sports operators.

The introduction of Fly Board marks a significant addition to the Islands’ growing portfolio of adventure tourism offerings, reinforcing its status as a premier destination for thrill-seekers.

Fly Boarding is an exciting water-based activity in which a rider is propelled above the sea surface using powerful water jets connected to a watercraft. The activity allows participants to perform aerial manoeuvres while enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding waters. Officials stated that all necessary safety protocols have been put in place, including deployment of trained personnel and use of certified equipment, in line with the Administration’s guidelines.

The Directorate of IP&T has been actively working towards introducing innovative and high-adrenaline activities to attract both domestic and international tourists. The initiative is also expected to generate employment opportunities for local youth while promoting responsible and sustainable adventure tourism in the Islands.

With the addition of Fly Boarding, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are set to offer an enhanced and diverse experience to visitors, further strengthening their appeal as a leading tourism destination.
