In a decisive operation, the North and Middle Andaman (N&MA) District Police apprehended a foreign poacher and seized an engine dinghy. This swift action comes in response to reports of foreign poachers in the coastal areas of the district.
Upon receiving the information, an anti-poaching team led by ASI Muchray Munda, along with HC Ashok Samaddar, PCs Manikandan, Sushil Sarkar, Vijay Kumar, Gaurav Hawladar, and Shoaib Ali from PS Kalighat, was immediately assembled. The team gathered intelligence from local fishermen, devised a strategy, and launched an anti-poaching operation in the suspected areas.
The team concentrated their search efforts in the coastal and creek areas of North Reef, where the poachers were believed to be hiding. As part of a thorough combing operation, they discovered a foreign poacher concealed in the Loha Tikry creek along with an engine dinghy. Upon being ordered to surrender, the poacher attempted to flee into the jungle but was swiftly apprehended by the team.
The captured poacher has been taken to PS Kalighat and will be handed over to PS CCS for further investigation. The anti-poaching team remains vigilant, continuing their search for additional poachers.
This successful operation highlights the dedication and effectiveness of the anti-poaching team in protecting wildlife and combating illegal poaching activities. The team’s exemplary bravery and prompt action have been widely praised, and they are set to receive appropriate commendations.

The police have urged the general public and fishermen to report any sightings of foreign boats or individuals to their nearest police station or contact the authorities via phone numbers 100, 112, and 03192-273344. Informants’ identities will be kept confidential, and they will be suitably rewarded for their courageous actions.
